In this chapter, Jim spies on Silver.
After Jim gave Long John Silver the slip, he explores around the island. As he explores he suddenly saw many birds fly up at once and hears human voices talking. Jim realizes that one of the voices was Long John Silver’s and listens in closer. Jim hears Silver criticize the men and then a cry of anger followed by a deathly scream. One of the men tries to leave the party but Silver kills him. Jim is so awestruck that he faints. When he recovers, Sliver is in the same position he was in before acting like normal. Then he blows his whistle as a signal and Jim fears more men will come, so he runs away to a forest.
