In this chapter, everyone prepares for the trip.
After the exciting revelation in chapter 6, Jim, the squire, and Dr. Livesey begin to prepare for the trip to get the treasure. However, some of their plans did not go the way they were supposed to. Jim spends his days dreaming about strange islands and adventures and looking constantly at the map remembering every detail. Weeks pass by until finally a letter arrives from the squire saying that everything was going perfectly. It was also revealed in the letter that the squire spilled the beans about the treasure, even though he said he would keep it a secret. The letter also says that the squire a one-legged man, Long John Silver, to be the ship's cook. It even says that Jim can stay with his mother for one night and that Jim should come as soon as possible. Then Jim goes back to the Admiral Benbow and finds out that it had been repaired. After saying good-bye to his mom, Jim sets off for the port where there ship is. When he arrives there, Jim finds out that they leave the next day.
