In this chapter, the Long John Silver protects Jim.
There are six mutineers in total. Captain Silver explains why they are there. Jim then declares that he was the one that cut the ship loose and he was the one who overheard Silver. He then also declares that if they spare him, he will help save them in court or he says that they can kill him and get nothing. The crew then tries to kill Jim, but Silver protects him. Captain Silver and his crew then argue over this until the men call for a council. The captain then explains to Jim why he did this.
